The wife of an Iranian pastor has been released from prison three months before the end of her sentence.

Shahnaz Jayzan, wife of Farhad Sabokrouh, was released on Tuesday (Jan. 28) after serving nine months in jail.

She has been released on the condition that neither she nor her husband hold church services or visit other Christians in western Iran’s Khuzestan province. Jayzan was also told that the couple should leave their hometown of Ahvaz, where Sabokrouh was pastor of the Assemblies of God Church, and report to the Revolutionary Court every four months.

The couple were jailed alongside two church members in May last year for “converting to Christianity, proselytizing Muslims and propagating against the Islamic regime by means of evangelism”.

All received one-year jail sentences but all have now been released early.
